RADICALLY HONEST,
SERIOUSLY PLAYFUL AND DECEIVINGLY SIMPLE

Profile

Ronald de Vreede is a brand strategist and copywriter from The Netherlands and based in Portugal. He’s recognised as a strategist with a sharp, connective mind, able to link seemingly unrelated dots and reach clear conclusions quickly. His writing has a distinct signature: sometimes cryptic, sometimes deadpan honest, but always leaving people thinking longer than expected.

‍

He believes the trick to good and effective work is knowing where and how to find a human truth within a brand’s universe. This truth is often hidden, raw, and imperfect but once it’s found, it’s a source of extreme power and creativity.

APPROACH

Ronald works as an independent strategist and copywriter, but frequently collaborates with other creatives to serve his clients. These small satellite agencies typically consist of a strategist, a designer/art director and a business director. But often enough expanded with web developers, illustrators, photographers, or producers. We work across the globe, online or offline, depending on project requirements.

BACKGROUND

BACK-GROUND

He studied International Business and Marketing at Erasmus University in Rotterdam and at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. He began his career as a consultant before moving into strategy at Young & Rubicam in Amsterdam. From there, he worked in London and Berlin for Sapient Publicis and Razorfish, eating everything that was digital.

‍

In 2015, Ronald returned to Amsterdam to freelance for StrawberryFrog, Natwerk, and Boomerang, before taking on a three-year role as Strategy Director at KesselsKramer. He now works with agencies and directly for brands worldwide.

‍

Over the years, he has created work in nearly every form and industry imaginable for more than 100 brands: film scripts, billboards, posters, GIFs, social content, websites, apps, books, newspapers, stickers, stunts, activations and, inevitably, countless presentations.

‍

His favourite kind of work is building brands from the ground up: naming them, shaping their story, and bringing them to life verbally and visually across whatever platforms feel right.
